Objectives and Internal Organization

Mission

COMEGI — the Research Center for Organizations, Markets, and Industrial Management — is a research unit that promotes advanced research in Management Sciences, aligning with the Lusíada University's (UL) strategy of strengthening high-level scientific production and supporting its higher education programs on a solid foundation.

Created in 2017, COMEGI focuses on studies related to Organizations, Markets, and Industrial Management, developing its activity on the UL campuses in Lisbon, Porto, and Vila Nova de Famalicão.

The Research Unit's mission is to produce excellent scientific knowledge and promote applied innovation in the areas of markets, sustainable finance, circular economy, and industrial management. The projects developed aim to address contemporary challenges with social, economic, and technological impact, contributing to the digital transition, environmental sustainability, and the competitiveness of organizations. It also aims to strengthen the articulation between academia, companies, and civil society, promoting research of high scientific rigor, but also of clear practical applicability.

Strategy

COMEGI's interdisciplinary strategy is based on the articulation between the three Research Groups, enhancing collaborations that transcend disciplinary boundaries:

Integration between projects from different groups, ensuring that market analysis (Group A) contributes to sustainable business models (Group B) and innovative industrial management practices (Group C);

Holding joint workshops and seminars, promoting the sharing of methodologies (e.g., multi-criteria models, operations management, IoT) and creating synergies in addressing complex problems;

Involvement of students and young researchers in cross-cutting activities, reinforcing interdisciplinary skills and encouraging the production of applied knowledge; Adoption of anchor themes throughout the academic year (e.g., digitalization, health, sustainability, Industry 5.0), explored in a network by the different groups.
